Reflexology Frequently Asked Questions
I’m currently on medication from my GP. Am I ok to have reflexology?
This really depends on what you're being treated for. However on your first Reflexology session we do a full consultation which takes into account any conditions you have and may be taking medication for. In most cases Reflexology is beneficial in working along side any pre existing conditions and may even help.
I’ve heard reflexology works better on an empty stomach. What should I eat or drink before and after treatment?
It is advisable not to have a heavy meal too close to your treatment. After a Reflexology treatment to help feel the benefits for as long as possible it is good to drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol and caffeine for at least 24 hours and to eat lighter meals in order for the body to focus its energy on healing.
Do you offer an at home service?
This is something that i no longer provide. As i have a fixed treatment room at The Loft in Hessle.
How far in advance do I need to book and do you require a deposit?
Please feel free to contact me at any time for booking and I will see what can be done to accommodate you. However to avoid disappointment booking at least 1 week in advance should secure you a slot that's convenient for you.
I’m allergic to nuts. What oils and products do you use?
I use Neals Yard Organic Remedies within all of my treatments due to the hogh quality. However if you have any allergies please let me know as I have a few different mediums which I can use, some of which are nut free. If you would feel more comfortable bringing along your own this is also not a problem.
Do you sell vouchers and/or gift cards?
Gift cards and vouchers can make a great gift for loved ones, or those that haven't tried Reflexology before. You can buy gift cards by contacting me directly.
Do you also do pedicures or chiropody?
This is not something I currently offer. However as my business grows I will be looking into other services to add benefits for my customers.
I struggle with arthritis and would like to try reflexology for pain management. However, I’m worried that it might be too sensitive. Is it possible to have a trial or test?
Of course, taster sessions are available as detailed on my treatment page. I can tailor treatments to your preferences and less pressure can be used to make sure that you are comfortable at all times.
I’m diabetic and need regular foot care. Can reflexology help or do I still need to see my care team as well?
Reflexology can help with increased blood circulation and lowering blood sugar levels which would benefit Diabetic clients. However if you were already under a care team we would advise that you keep up with these appointments as well and use the Reflexology as an aid to better health.
I’m pregnant and I’m concerned about the safety of treatment and the risks. Can you advise?
Reflexology is considered safe throughout pregnancy however some women feel more comfortable waiting until they are 12 weeks pregnant. The areas on the foot which affect pregnancy would not be worked once I was aware of a pregnancy. Reflexology can be really beneficial in helping with the aches and pains that come along with pregnancy and in aiding rest and relaxation in what can be a very tiring time for women.
What precautions are you taking to minimise the risk of infection?
Eden Therapies is certified in Infection Prevention (COVID-19) for Complementary Therapies. When you have a treatment I will be wearing a mask and a visor, and will require you to wear a mask during your treatment also. Hand washing will happen before and after treating your feet. Prior to your treatment all equipment is cleaned thoroughly. Whilst this pandemic is about I may be requesting that you use your own towels and blankets.
What payment methods do you accept?
Payment will be taken via BACS, Cash or Card.
Will i have greasy hair after my Indian Head Massage?
Yes you will, however take advantage of the moisture boost. Pop an old towel down and wash it the morning after for super soft and nourished hair.
